It's Race Day!

Sundays are the typical day for the NASCAR's Sprint Cup races. I have been watching racing since I was 13 years old and chose Dale Earnhardt as my favorite driver. While others hated his aggressive style, I loved it! I was ecstatic when he won his first Daytona 500 (on his 20th try!) on February 15, 1998. And I was heartbroken when he was killed in a last lap in the Daytona 500 on February 18, 2001. After his death, i considered not watching NASCAR without him. After that idea was rejected, I considered cheering for his son, Dale Jr. i also rejected that idea. Then I saw Tony Stewart. He has a certain edge to him that could almost replace Dale Earnhardt to me. So, from that moment, Tony Stewart became my new favorite driver. And still is today.

As for my love of NASCAR, it has dwindled through the years. At one point, I had an enormous memorabilia collection. I had large (1:24) die-casts, small (1:64) die-casts, framed photos, books, magazines, key chains, T-shirts along with other items. Much of that collection has been sold or lost (through moves).

The husband still watches NASCAR. I simply tolerate it. I still hope for Stewart to win, but cannot stand to sit and watch it.

Here are a few of my personal pictures associated with NASCAR.
